State Rep. Jenifer Loon (R-Eden Prairie) has authored a bill for the upcoming 2014 legislative session that would remove a state law banning Sunday off-sale liquor sales and allow local municipalities to decide hours and rules for these sales, according to a news release.
The legislation would amend Minnesota Statutes section 340A.504, subd. 4 by removing a current statewide ban on Sunday sales, according the release.
“The time has come for state government to abolish this outdated law and move the decision closer to the people. While local governments should have the final say in how these sales are controlled, our citizens and businesses deserve a less restrictive regulatory climate that invites competition, creates jobs and brings fundamental freedom back to our communities,” Loon said in the release.
Loon is the Deputy Minority Leader in the Minnesota House of Representatives and is serving in her third term.
